Midgard on MAMP

I decided to try out MAMP as the base for my Midgard testbed. The idea came from Bergie's blog post, that I was browsing for notes on Midgard on Mac OS X.
The MAMP installation itself was a breeze. Just let the StuffIT extract the package and then double-click - sweet! Even the interface is really nice with all basic requirements like start/stop Apache/MySQL, and port configurations easily available.
However, the problem is that Midgard requires the MySQL dynamic libraries to be available, and this is currently not support by the MAMP. Which basically means that at least the MySQL needs to compiled by hand (or installed from binaries). I also posted a question on this to the MAMP forums. Let's see how they'll answer. If the libs will become available, setting up development environments on OS X will be a breeze to install and run.
